Topic: Digicheck 4.52 bit statistics

Hello,

DC fan here, hardly using the metering features and sometime the global recorder as well.
Question about the bit statistics
Whatever the signal rms level is, all the audio bit frame is turned to green such like with randomly varying data, only showing blue zero's with a pure digital silence inserted in the audio material sad
Whatever settings I tried, never successed to get the right display of the bit allocation really used by the digital conversion hmm
Just looks like a toggle flag, full silence or something happening within the audio stream ed:
Any idea ?
Except this, DC is more than cool
Kind regards

Re: Digicheck 4.52 bit statistics

This kind of display is called '2s complement'. Details can be found in the DC online help and here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two's_complement

This display does not tell you the current dynamic range, but how many bits are used to represent the audio data. These are usually 24 bits even if you currently just see a noise floor of -100 dBFS...

:-)
thanks for the additional information, even if I knew about 2s complement, refreshing mind is good
now I know how to get the digital carrier frame of any HDSP streamed through data
Kind regards
