Topic: Please recommend headphone amp for 9632

I'm in the market for a moderately priced headphone amp for HDSP 9632, to pair with my Sennheiser HD 448s (satisfies my current needs). Please hit me with your suggestions smile

Re: Please recommend headphone amp for 9632

These headphones seem to have a very high sensitivity (114 dB @ 1kHz/1Vrms), so there should be no need for an external amp. Just connect them straight to the card...

Re: Please recommend headphone amp for 9632

I thought I could use an amp to actually attenuate the headphone volume, as it's more than loud enough as is. That, and I might get a pair of cans more suited for studio use in the future. In the meantime though, what's the normal way to attenuate headphone volume in TotalMix? Haven't figured that one out yet.

Looking at the manual again, it seems to me there aren't dedicated headphone channels, they correspond instead to analog outputs 1+2, which are routed to my speakers. Therefore, I can't adjust the headphone volume by itself. I guess that answers my second question.

Just pull down the fader for AN 1/2... There is also a level setting for the phones in the HDSP Settings window.

I don't want to attenuate AN 1/2 since that output goes to my speakers as well? I've already set the Phones gain to -12 dB in the driver settings.
