Topic: RME HDSP with yamaha MR816X problem

Hi all,

I have been trying to troubleshoot this problem for a couple of days now and have read pretty much every post on all the relevant forums relating to this and cannot find the answer, so I decided to bite the bullet and hassle you guys tongue

I recently purchased a HDSP 9652 and an MR816X to use in conjunction with each other via ADAT. I have the MR hooked up to ADAT2 on the 9652, and I can get a sync lock, and when using MME/DirectX drivers in ableton live 8 I can even get sound running out of the 9652, through the MR (audio input device set to Line In (Yamaha Steinberg FW DWM) DX and audio output device set to ADAT 2 (1+2) (REM HDSP 9652) DX) and out of my monitors on channel 1 and 2 from the MR. However using these drivers the latency is horrendous.

So to minimise the latency (the whole reason I opted on the 9652 as the interface for the MR) I need to run the ASIO drivers for the 9652 in ableton. However when I change to ASIO (the only one available for me for the 9652 is "ASIO Hammerfall DSP") i lose my output to the MR! I can still see the incoming and outgoing signals in total mix, but there is no input being registered on the MRs ADAT channels!

I can get really low latency using this setup, but no sound throughput from the 9652 to the MR, and hence no sound out of my monitors sad Is there another ASIO driver for the 9652 I am missing? Or is there something I have to disable on the MR?

Any help would be awesome, this is doing my head in, I just wanna start making some music!

Cheers

Which driver and hardware revision (firmware) do you have installed currently (HDSP Settings > About)?

Re: RME HDSP with yamaha MR816X problem

Hi and thanks for the reply.

I actually worked out what the problem was nearly straight after I posted this haha. The channels in total mix reset themselves to ADAT1 for some reason when I changed to the ASIO driver. They were originally set to ADAT2 when i was using the MME/DirectX driver so I did not even think to check that (plus the channel output is really small font so I didn't notice :s)

Thanks again!
