Topic: HDSPe AES 32 with Mackie 1640i D-sub 25 tascam

Hi everybody,

I've got an Mackie 1640i. I want to bypass its converters and got a "top quality" RME converter.

The mackie have two Tascam analog D-sub 25 (2x 8) outputs.

Can I plug this two D-sub directly into the HDSPe AES 32 ?
Or I need the RME Bob 32 ?
Can I plug high-end Pre into xlr inputs of the Bob 32, or go through the mackie's inserts ?

What is the less expensive solution for me (I want to use hardware stuff for "out the box" mix, and so listenning in my monitors too ...) ? What is the better way to patch this ?

A lot of questions, but a little difficult for me ...

thanks for your answers.
Regards

P.S Sorry for my english !

No, the Mackie is an analog mixer with analog I/Os. The HDSPe AES provides only digital I/Os - with TASCAM pin-out format.

Or I need the RME Bob 32 ?

No. BOB-32 is for connecting digital AES/EBU D-sub to digital XLR.

BOB-32 is no AD converter. If these Preamps provide an AES/EBU signal you can.

Your mixer provides two D-subs with the Post gain balanced analog signal. I should be possible to use an analog D-sub to TRS cable to one RME Multiface II or Fireface UC/800 interface plus ADAT converter.

Neither of the two ideas will work - you need an external converter, e.g. ADI-8 DS or M16 AD.

Thanks for your answers :-)

May be I just can go to an Multiface II via "d-sub tascam-line TRS inputs" cable ?

I don't find The RME website very eloquent to explain routage possibilities and find the right products ...
Too much gear here !!!

May be with a brain it's more easier too....

If you use the MF II you convert only 8 channels of the 16. If that is enough you can use most of our interfaces, having 8 analog input channels. If you need all 16 it gets more complicated and expensive. RME M-16 AD for superb AD-conversion, then via HDSP(e) MADI or any double ADAT interface to the computer. Or many other ways to do it.
