Topic: Midi device limit reached. How do I remove my old Multiface II midi?

Since I got thr RME UFX I have stopped using my Multiface II.

However, after installing the UFX my midi device count has reached the Windows limit and I would really like to be able to install some midi devices in the future.

So is there a safe, foolproof way to remove the Multiface II midi device entries from my system without accidentally removing UFX's or Steinber CC121 ports from my system?

Thanks

I believe if you reboot in safe mode then you can see all the entries and delete the ones you don't want.

Hope this helps,

Just follow the refrences in the entries and you can find out which entry belongs to which device.

Hello Matthias,

In my list it shows like

midi    REG_SZ   wdmaud.drv
midi2    REG_SZ   wdmaud.drv

etc.

What I found out is that if I try searching for e.g. midi2, at some point I get a result in the registry labelled "Alias" and it has the name of a device under this entry. So I guess this should be the right way? Should I also delete the mixer entries as well?

Thanks for the help

EDIT: It's weird, but as I was searching for midi2 entry two "Alias" came out, the one was for "Novation USB Audio" which is from Novation Nocturn which I don't use anymore, and the second one was "RME Fireface USB series PnP driver" which is obviously my UFX. So in this case I do NOT delete the entry midi2?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
