Topic: New mac laptop with FF400 - will MBP or MBA work?

Hi forum

Is there anyway I can use my old RME FF400 on the newest MacBook Pro or the newest MacBook Air? The screen on my old macbook just died so I have to buy a new mac :-(

The Macbook Air has no FireWire port. If a working Thunderbolt Firewire adapter will be available it could work.

The Macbook Pro models provide a Firewire 800 port and works with the Fireface 400. It just needs a FireWire 800 to 400 cable.

Regarding the air:

Do you know from rumors or other sources whether or not there are companies that are working on such an TB adapter?

Unfortunately, the adapter:

has been delayed untill second half 2012 because sonnet wants to wait for the second generation Thunderbolt.

Looks like it's gonna be hard to go for the MacBook Air if I want a working soundcard...

Besides USB (Fireface UC, UFX, Babyface) there is solution for the Macbook Air in the moment.
