Topic: Meter Peak Problem

I like the UFX very much.  I've had mine for a few weeks now and have taken it out once for recording and plan to move it into place shortly as the band's primary audio system.  It is a pretty wonderful package.  TotalMix FX is a masterpiece.  The new Dynamic Metering in the last update is very, very nice! You all are going the right way with this product - please keep up the good work!

I have an issue with meter peaks.

I like to set the peak hold time to infinite or as high as it will go in the case of TotalMix since it does not have an infinite setting.  We run our sound from the stage and make preamp adjustments as we go along by inspecting the peaks for clipping.

Once I have made an adjustment, I need to clear the peaks.  I have not found a good way to do this.  I've tried changing the peak hold value to 1 second, but the peaks don't clear after 1 second.  Even if they did, that would be a clumsy way to have to do it, especially from the stage.

If I shutdown and restart TotalMix, then the peak setting takes effect, but of course that isn't going to work as a remedy either.

What is needed, I believe, is a Clear Peaks button in the right panel under Level Meter, unless you have another suggestion for this problem.

Thanks

Re: Meter Peak Problem

Any RME guys got a suggestion for clearing meter peaks?

Re: Meter Peak Problem

Not sure why no RME techs are replying to this?   What's up with that?!!

How can I clear the meter peaks???????

Re: Meter Peak Problem

Have you tried Digicheck?
IIRC, there is a hold RMS button.

Re: Meter Peak Problem

Indeed DIGICheck not only has a global level meter but also a simple peak reset function, by either double-clicking into the level meters or by the hotkey r (reset for infinite hold).

Additionally we added this issue to our list for future TM FX versions.

Thank you.

Re: Meter Peak Problem

You stumbled on to this just a few days before I hit the same roadblock.

I also would like either infinite settings or at least 9999 seconds. This would allow to let tests run while I leave the house and come back for a result (just did that yesterday when measuring the Babyface's inputs with white noise).
