Topic: looking for new device to replace my Multiface II

HI,

i'm looking for a new device to replace my rme multiface II with pci express card. At this moment i'm only using 2 in and 2 out (sold all of my harware). I really like the stability of the multiface drivers and the zero latency.

now, what i'm planning for:
-i have a studio pc with windows 7 installed
-i'm planning to buy a macbook with ableton live for on the road and do live stuff
-i have a rode nt1000 which i need phantom input for
-need 2 input + phantom and 2 outputs and midi in/out
-stable zero latency

I was thinking along the lines of a fireface400.

Anyone else got some tips?

Hi.
If you only need the 2 analog I/O built in then the Babyface would be perfect.
RME's USB drivers are designed to be on par with the stability and low latency of their PCI/PCIe and firewire products.
If you need more analog line level I/O beyond the 2 Mic/Instrument/Line Inputs of the Babybace then the Fireface 400 or UC would also be great options.

Re: looking for new device to replace my Multiface II

how do the babyface and fireface compare performance-wise? (Like latency and stuff)
Do the firewire devices perform better than the usb ones?

I don't need the adat and dsp fx. And there's not much price difference between the two, so it seems the fireface400 has my preference for now.

Hi,
USB will work as well or better than USB with RME products.
If you are using a MAC Book then either will work great.
