Topic: Intel Mac OS 10.6.8 not getting sound from Fireface 800

Reading threads for 2 days can't figure this one out. New Intel Mac quad core Xeon running OS 10.6.8 not getting sound out of Fireface 800.
Here are the clues that something is happening:
Running Ableton Live and I see the signal meters jumping but no sound
Fireface Mixer showing signal but no sound
iTunes running but no sound

Here are the steps taken so far:
Installed, uninstalled, reinstalled newest drivers from RME website -No Change
(Fireface_301_x86)
(Fireface Flash Update 1.70, 2.70)

Unplugged firewire 800 cable from new computer and plugged into old computer, Mac PowerPC G5 Dual 2.3GHz and everything works as it should.

Thoughts?

Re: Intel Mac OS 10.6.8 not getting sound from Fireface 800

weird. I  was using 10.6.8 with the old driver (2.77 I think) and was working perfectly.
I asume you know how to deal with Totalmix and there is no issue in the routing there.
The other thing that comes to my mind is that the new driver is for lion... are you sure it works on SL?

Re: Intel Mac OS 10.6.8 not getting sound from Fireface 800

WAIT! HOLD THE POSTS! I plugged the headphones into the headphone jack of the Fireface 800 and got sound from iTunes and Ableton Live. Here is the signal chain and the breakdown:

Intel Mac OS 10.6.8 > Firewire (Yes, signal)> Fireface 800 (Yes, signal)> ADAT 1 (shows connectivity) > Steinberg Nuendo 8-I/O 96k 24 bit A/D-D/A converter (sound through headphones from the Fireface 800 unit is warbled. Fireface settings control showing signal sync, then no lock; sync then no lock on ADAT 1.) NO SIGNAL METERS ON NUENDO A/D-D/A CONVERTER ? NO SIGNAL TO MIXING BOARD ? NO SIGNAL TO SPEAKERS.
The issue then is that there is faulty connectivity to the A/D-D/A Converter.
ANY THOUGHTS ON HOW TO FIX THIS??

Re: Intel Mac OS 10.6.8 not getting sound from Fireface 800

Still looking and researching for answers. The WARBLE was coming from the firewire cable not being completely pushed in on the computer, check. I read a post stating how to hook up the Fireface 800 and the RME ADI-8DS through the in/out of the Toslink light pipe on Adat 1, check; Fireface 800 set to master in the word clock, check. Still no sound.
I have been using the Fireface 800 and the RME ADI-8DS for 6 years with no problems whatsoever with my G5 PowerPC. Me thinks that the golden rule giants are changing the game plan and you have to pony up or move along. Of course, Mac OS X changed the game so maybe I can find a used saddle somewhere.
