Topic: Babyface: phantom power always present!? Faulty unit?

Hello! smile

When I connect any condenser microphone with my Babyface I turn on the Phantom to make it work. When I am finished using the mic, I turn phantom power off but a strange thing happens: the mic stops working but there is a bit of noise present in Totalmix and the channel leds show that there is still some signal present. If I knock on the mic, I can see that the mic still listens but the preamplificiation provided is too low.

Is this normal!?? I don't have any way to measure it, but I think that there is always some phantom power present on my Babyface, even when the phantom is off! The same happens with 3 different Rode mics (2 NT55 and one NT1000).

How long does this last? Phantom power usually does not cut off immediately, the mic may continue to provide sound for a moment.

I disconnected the mic after 5minutes and it still had power.. I have not measured the time.. maybe it stops after 6 minutes, maybe after 6 hours!..
