Topic: Splashtop or similar VCN with Total Mix FX?
I have been looking into using AC-7 core or something similar to control TM wirelessly using MIDI commands. I know some people have used AC-7 Core successfully with TM to control faders and pans. The problem is there are limited MIDI commands available to control TM FX so, for example, you can't adjust DSP effect parameters.
In theory, using virtual computer networking (VCN) software (i.e., remote desktop), you could have a laptop hooked to an RME device via firewire or USB, then see and control the screen on a tablet that is wirelessly connect to the laptop via an ad-hoc wifi network. So, you would see and control the actual TM application from anywhere your wifi connection can reach.
Seems like it would work great for FOH or monitor mxes in a live setting. It seems a VCN program called Splashtop could work well, but I know other options exist. Has anyone tried this? Any experiences or thoughts?
