Topic: fireface uc windows mixer

hi all,

first of all, i am kinda new to professional audio and recording, the fireface uc is my second audio interface and the first one with more complex possibilities.
i installed the fireface yesterday on my new laptop on windows 7, made the driver and firmware update and everything works like a charm.
the only thing, that i dont like up to now is, that the windows mixer doesnt have any influence on the output anymore. i have to open total mix to tweak the volume, even if i just wanna listen to some mp3s or youtube videos. so, is there any possibility to get the windows volume back in action?

regards

Re: fireface uc windows mixer

I just posted regarding this problem a few post down.. There is a hack of a solution there, but it doesn't work for me (perhaps because of windows 64bit).  I am still looking for a solution to this myself.

I believe Mac users don't have this issue.  Can someone please confirm?????

@ Rme :
-I would like to know if RME is planning on correcting this issue.  This is not a feature, Its an inconvience....especially for the babyface which geared for the home/portable studio..
-allow the option to Reference the windows volume level...Or better yet allow me to playback without TotalMix Fx. I don't need it 95% of the time.

The UC has a nice knob on the front to control the volume directly. No need to open TotalMix.

Re: fireface uc windows mixer

thanks for your reply. i am more familiar with the fireface after some days now and from day to day i like it more smile i just wanted to know, if it is normal that the windows mixer doesnt have any influence any more. its all fine now and i am more than happy with the uc.

just one more question regarding the Midi breakout cable.. hm i dont know how i should say it, i cant stick it the whole way in the midi port from the fireface, there is some space left, and mechanically its not very stable... hope you understand what i mean.

That response makes it sound like this is the intended functionality. Is there some reason why the windows volume control shouldn't work? I'm used to constantly adjusting volume with the speaker icon, and it's a bit of a nuisance to have to reach for the mixer or interface.

Obviously whenever you work with TotalMix the slighest touch on these controls would ruin your current mix settings...
