Topic: Cubase Metronome in HDSP Mixer

I am trying to record a mono vocal into Cubase, but the Cubase metronome is suddenly running through my HDSP Mixer.  Cubase support asked if I'd already checked my totalmix for a loopback, but I haven't activated the loopback by clicking on the white label in the third row while holding down the Ctrl-key, turning the label's colour changes to red.

Is there any other reason why the Cubase metronome would be running through my inputs?

Thanks for your support.

Cubase 6 64 bit, Windows 7, RME AES HDSP-32, Lynx Aurora 16. Bricasti M7, API 2500, etc.

Re: Cubase Metronome in HDSP Mixer

Hi,
Is this a MAC or PC? What versions of Cubase?

Thanks Chris

Hi Chris.

It's a Windows 7 PC running Cubase 6 32 bit.

Cubase 6 64 bit, Windows 7, RME AES HDSP-32, Lynx Aurora 16. Bricasti M7, API 2500, etc.

Re: Cubase Metronome in HDSP Mixer

Bump.

Cubase wrote me: "Cubase cannot route the output of the Click back to an audio track by itself, so I do agree that the most likely cause is the Total Mix RME DSP mixing system.  I would suggest contacting RME to verify that you are not routing an output to an input in their software.  I hope this information helps."

Any suggestions?

Re: Cubase Metronome in HDSP Mixer

Hi,
the only this would be happening in Total Mix is if you are using the Total Mixes Loop back function or you have a mixer board plugged into the Fireface incorrectly.

I would load the factory presets for the Total Mix which you can by pressing the Preset 1 button while holding down the Control key on your keyboard. This will remove any sub mix routing or sub mixing within the Total Mix. Anything at that point would be inside of Cubase or externally like through a mixer.
Make sure you turn down your speakers and head phones before resetting Total Mix. The volume will be set at full when you do the reset.

Here are a couple You Tube videos that might help you understand how the Total Mix works.

Re: Cubase Metronome in HDSP Mixer

Thanks for your reply Chris. I reset Total Mix and still have the problem.

I don't understand your Firewire comment. I have the HDSP AES-32 running on a PC. Is there something I'm not understanding?

Could it be something in DigiCheck? I have been using that as well. So, could I have inadvertently made a setting that would route Cubase's metronome through Total Mix's inputs?

Thanks for the advice on resetting and the youtube vidos.

I appreciate your support!

Re: Cubase Metronome in HDSP Mixer

Hi,
Sorry thought you were using the Fireface 800. So never mind the firewire. smile
The Total Mix tutorials are still useful though.
If you close Digicheck does the does the loop back stop?
I do not believe there is anything in Digicheck that can loop back the signal like this.
Are you using any of Cubase's Control Room section?
Do you have Direct Monitoring enabled in Cubase?
Is Cubase using the "HDSP ASIO" driver or the something else?

Thanks Chris

What do you have the AES32 card plugged into? Converter? Mixer?

Thanks Chris

Re: Cubase Metronome in HDSP Mixer

Thanks for your reply Chris.

The AES 32 is connected to my Lynx Aurora 16.

I'm not using Cubase's Control Room.

This issue started with my updating to Cubase 6.05. So, I'll check Direct Monitoring and the driver.

I'll let you know what I find out.

Thanks again.

Re: Cubase Metronome in HDSP Mixer

Hi,
You also should check that is is nothing going on with the Aurora. It has some routing functions also but I'm not sure if they can any loop back functions though.

Thanks Chris

Hi Chris.

When I updated to the 6.05 version, Cubase reset my VST Audio System settings. I reset them and the problem is solved.

I am new to Cubase and didn't anticipate that an update would require resetting my settings. I am sorry to have bothered you, but I want to thank you for your support. You solved my problem. Thank you.
