Topic: RME USB, OS10.7, and Parallels

Hello,
I thought I read about some issue with RME usb interfaces, OS10.7, and Parallels.  I've searched the forum and the wider google-net and can't seem to find anything with search terms I come up with.

Is there an issue?

Is it only when Parallels is running or is just having it installed a problem?

Thanks
Hugh

Re: RME USB, OS10.7, and Parallels

Hi,

i have 10.6.8 and parallels 7 and it works fine. But you can't use it at the same time - i mean when using the RME in Parallels it will not be available for Mac and reversed. Problem is that when you are in Parallels and you want to use it in Mac then there is no option to plug it back to Mac - you have to restart the Mac to use it in Mac.

Is there an option to switch the RME interface between those 2 plattforms?

Re: RME USB, OS10.7, and Parallels

Hello,

We currently use a UFX under OS10.6.8 without an issue, with Parallels installed but of course not running.  I've searched for issues specifically with OS10.7 (Lion) and can't find any information but was certain I read something.  Anyone know of anything?

Re: RME USB, OS10.7, and Parallels

At least older versions of Parallels installed a kext/driver that could get in the way of OS X USB communication even when Parallels was not running. Seems to be no problem anymore. No idea about how VMware does its USB hooks nowadays.

Thanks Timur, when we (are forced to) move to OS10.7 we'll see how it goes.
