Topic: Daisy chain Powercore FW to 400 port on FF800 possible?

Hi Folks,

I have a FF800 connected to my MacBook pro (rock solid as always) and was wondering if it is possible to daisy chain my powercore FW to the 400 port on the FF800?

Any ideas if this will work ok? It's a temporary situation as I just sold my mac pro and am waiting for a new machine so I've only got the one port to play with at the moment!

I've never had to consider it before as everything has always always had its own bus. Not ideal, anyone using it like this?

Cheers.

Any ideas folks?

I don't want to plug it in only to find it's going to hurt the port on the FF800! Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers.

Never mind, tried it and it didn't work. Wouldn't recognise the Powercore.

Cheers.

Hello,

I've been using the Powercore X8 with the Fireface 800 for the last year or so. Works well.

Powercore into the FW400 port. I connect the firewire 800, power-up the Fireface, wait for the host to be recognized, then I power-up the Powercore.

I'm on MacBook Pro Quadcore i7 running OS 10.7.2

Cheers

Thanks faugert,

It would seem powering the powercore after the FF800 works, and works well! Thanks for the suggestion!
