Topic: UFX Not Recognized Over Firewire

Got my UFX today. Powered it up after starting my computer (plugged firewire in to PCI express firewire card, Windows 7) and no hardware assistant dialogue comes up on the screen.

Under the device manager the UFX appears under "other devices," as opposed to "sound video and game controllers," so I'm fearful to install the driver manually while it's listed there, due to the blue SOD the manual talks about.

No dialogue besides "Open folder to view files" comes up when I insert the driver CD.

On the UFX itself the USB light is on, as well as the firewire..

Would prefer to run firewire on this specific machine.

Do i need to install the USB drivers first? Did I do something wrong. The manual is thorough but a little vague about troubleshooting, tried to search the forums.

TIA

Re: UFX Not Recognized Over Firewire

I saw that in the manual, but the "warning" about manually installing comes before that part ... Confusing and prompting me to steer away from installng them there.

Also, is it NOT an issue that under my device manager the UFX shows up under "other devices?" The manual says usually it doesn't ...

Also, it it okay to install firewire drivers first? Then possibly USB later?

Re: UFX Not Recognized Over Firewire

This isn't the same as forced manual installation without hardware detection.
And if you intend to use FW only, no need for USB drivers.

Re: UFX Not Recognized Over Firewire

I was only thinking for firmware update purposes.

The current firmware is 1.47 on the device.. Is that current?

Thanks again Daniel

No, it is 148. And yes, firmware update via USB.
