Topic: AO4S question

Hi guys,
I have a little bit of confusion regarding the AO4S outout card for the HDSPE AIO.

On the RME website it says
"These options for the HDSP 9632 and HDSPe AIO are analog expansion boards, designed as bracket with 4 stereo TRS jacks each. AI4S-192 AIO provides four servo-balanced inputs, "

I want to know, will the card give me 4 x STEREO out puts or 4 x MONO outputs?
Because the wording on the site would indicate 4 x Stereo outputs.

Thanks

Re: AO4S question

4 x Mono, balanced (hence stereo TRS plugs).

Poor choice or wording, for clarity I would revise the description.

If I want an additional 4 X stereo outs for the AIO, what are my options?

Re: AO4S question

An external converter connected via ADAT (8 channels).

Do RME offer something suitable?
if not are you allowed to recommend something no RME?

Re: AO4S question

RME ADI-8 DS or QS. Or any converter with ADAT I/O....

Re: AO4S question

Thanks for your suggestion, ADI-8 looksjust the ticket.
Just out of interest, are ou aware of any converters that do ADTA to Analogue OUT only, as this is pretty much the only purpose for these.
Is there no way I can use 2x AO4s?

Are you suggesting you must add a $2000+ piece of gear to add 1/4" balanced stereo outputs to the AIO? What about inputs?

Sorry if I'm missing an obviously cheaper solution.. Still learning about the RME systems.

Yes, that is a bit of an expensive solution.
All I really need is 8 Analogue outputs connected to the AIO by ADAT.
But I do want the converters to be good quiality.

For what its worth, i dont need Pre's either, just basic good quality ADAT to analogue out.

Re: AO4S question

sorry for my bump of an old threat but dont wanna open up a new one ...

is it possible to use an ADI-2 oder 8-DS ADDA TOGETHER with the HDSPE AiO with AO4s Extension Card in line?

I'm searching for a way to output more channels (for sending signal(s) through a external FX chain and rejecting the signal to my DAW (Logic)

at the moment i'm using the (analog)outputs of the AiO and the AO4s for monitoring 3 Stereo-Channels out of my DAW

Re: AO4S question

Yes, you can use all at the same time with different signals. AIO + AO4S-191 + ADAT I/O + SPDIF I/O (coaxial).
