Topic: add one more fireface 800 or ADI 8 DS ?

Hi there,

I've already got one fireface 800 on my studio , but I need to increase my number of channels since I'll be tracking bands now.

I was wondering which way should I go:

buy one more ff800 , or a adi 8ds ?

The second unit will be basically for ad/da .


Are they the same regarding converters specifications ?

It seems obvious to me that the second FF 800 is the preferred option, as you also get a backup unit in case the first one fails.

How about conversion ? Are they basically the same regarding its AD and DA ?

I know this is an old post, but I am now in a similar position.  How does the A/D D/A conversion of the FF800 compare to that of the ADI-8 ds?  Thank you~!

The ADI-8 DS has the better converters and the better analog I/O circuits. But it does not have SteadyClock, and the DACs have a - compared to newer devices - quite high latency.
