Topic: Ipad 3 - Fireface UCX will they both work together - out the box ??

Hi Rme crew, hope your all well,

For the record Im a very happy fireface 800 user to date.. :-)

Just wanted to check with you guys - I know the iPad 3 has only just been announced and i can see they have not changed the 30 pin connection as some rumours may of suggested.

1. Do Rme have any knowledge on this whether the UCX will function without issue or need of a driver/firmware update??
Im hoping it will !! - The Class compliant mode is a big plus for my audio needs and the UCX / iPad 3 combo is next on the list of studio acquisitions and will be purchased for primarily that reason.

2. are you supporting Windows XP with the UCX ? In the driver download area i cant see it.

All iPad's should support CC (Class Compliance) so I can't see any issue's coming up.  It isn't about the hardware change, it's about the firmware supporting CC and I highly doubt Apple is going to take that away after already adding it and many people taking advantage of it.

I'd say 99.9% chance your smooth sailing.  As for the WinXP I wish I could help but have no idea.

BTW I'm not an RME employee, so take my words with a grain of salt...

No reason to assume the iPad 3 won't work. And XP does, too.

I will visit the RME booth at Frankfurt Musik Messe and take an iPad 3 along for testing. wink

We can confirm the normal operation of UCX with the iPad (3). And as the iPad does not have a FireWire connector, this thread is moved to the USB forum.
