Topic: Fireface UC - Only my Optical Light Comes on

Hello,

I was so excited to bring my Fireface UC home tonight, after years of pining for a Fireface, the day finally came.

After only a shaky start - having difficulties switching to AP mode, I updated my drivers, my device drivers, and then my drivers again.

Set to get started with some testing in GarageBand all I got was fuzzy noises. I attempted Reaper with its more illustrious DAW design, with the same results, tried switching up the frequency, 48, 44, 96 - all the same results fuzzy audio that sounded nothing like guitar.

I turned my device off to have dinner considering I was getting any love, and then after dinner I find that it doesn't turn on any more. The only light that comes on is the light from the back from the ADAT, on one device turn on, I got the clip light on the Mic 1 port to come on as well, but that was once.

Disappointed doesn't being to explain, but instead of sitting in self-pitty I want to know what I can do to get this fixed ASAP. I live in Melbourne, Australia

Can you get hold of another power supply with similar specs to test? If that doesn't help, please return the unit to the retailer.

Oddly enough I did have a 12v DC Adapter with the right amount of Amps.

Same result, except now the lights go 3 Clip, 2 48V - Clip, then 1 48V and they stay there.
That's with both supplies.

This is devastating. I've spent so much money on this thing and now I need to spend more to get it back up to Sydney, I haven't even sent in the Warranty card :S

Turns out I had a dodgy unit - as much as the supplier didn't want to believe it. Got it replaced, works like a dream.
