Topic: RME_UC power supply?

Hi all,
I've a RME_UC that I want to use, in stand-alone mode, with an external battery (NP1 14.4v).
First: is it possible?
2: max voltage and polarity, what else?

Thanks for the reply

Re: RME_UC power supply?

I use the UC from time to time with rechargable batteries: 8 AA cells in serie.  That works fine  -  for a good hour and then the batteries are empty.

Be aware, that the UC device pulls about 1 amp of current at about 12 volt.  For normal (non rechargable, so called dry) AA-sized batteries that is too much current; the voltage drops a lot (high impedance) and the device stops working (correctly) after a short period of time.

Although the device works also with AC, wire the plug polarity as shown on the power supply delivered with the device  -  you can use the battery pack then also on other devices with a similar voltage range.

If you use such a setting often, then it is worthwhile to have the battery pack fitted with an voltage indicator  -  warning you when the battery voltage dropps critically low (maybe a 8V2 zener, a led and a resistor in series).
