Topic: Cannot get any MIDI input to system via HDSPe9652

I have an Alesis QS8, connected to the HDSP MIDI port 2 in/out.
However,  either the keyboard is not sending MIDI or else the ststem is not seeing it.
The keyboard did work, and I have changed no settings as I am not a player.
So I assumeit is probably still transmitting data - how can I check I am seeing signal at the RME?
I also need to know how to set this up in Nuendo 5.5 - I am totally stupid when it comes to MIDI though, and need clear, easy to understand words please!
What do I do to get this working?

Does the same setup work with MIDI 1?

none of it works.
it is as if the input is not passing any data.
The device worked on a different computer - it is just activating input through the HDSP I am having trouble.
no standalone inputs work either.
Is there a setting I need to switch on in the OS or in the HDSP setup somewhere?

Windows XP? 10 Entry limit problem due to other devices which had been installed before? Get yourself Bome's Send SX and/or MIDITest to check the MIDI ports.
