Topic: ADI-2 as AD converter only?

Im trying to figure out if I have this hooked up correctly to use the ADI-2 as a AD converter only. Can someone confirm?

External Preamp --> ADI-2 (SPDIF OUT) ---> (SPDIF IN) Presonus Firestudio ---> The studio Monitors are coming out from the Firestudio.

I tested this last night with a mic'd signal from the Preamp/ADI combo and i was getting a signal in my DAW. But on the ADI-2, I saw the INPUT (coax/opt button lights) was blinking the whole time, and the clock lights were not blinking.

Should it be the other way around......Clock lights blinking and the Input lights be steady, seeing as im only using this as a AD converter and the Presonus is the Master clock?

Re: ADI-2 as AD converter only?

If the presonus is the master clock, then you need a digital connection from presonus out to ADI-2 in.

Re: ADI-2 as AD converter only?

I thought by connecting both SPDIF in/outs with the ADI and Presonus....would then make the ADI the master (and i would have to connect the studio monitors to the adi)? Once I connect the presonus (out) to ADI (in)......the clock lights start blinking and i have to sync it via the ADI.....thus making it (ADI) the MASTER?

Either way, the way i have it set up above.... seems to be working if i only want to use the ADI as a AD converter only, which is what i want.

Re: ADI-2 as AD converter only?

You have to give the clock signal to the ADI if you want it to be the slave. The settings for clock on the ADI determine whether it's master or slave.
