Topic: Fireface 400 not working after reinstall

Hey all.

So I decided to format and reinstall everything on my computer and since then I've had some major issues with my fireface 400 soundcard.

Im working with Ableton on a Windows 7 x64 system, and I have set the system to high performance and changed the firewire drivers to legacy.

I just keep getting absolutely no sound on my card unless I set the bandwidth to 'Analog' only and then I can get crackle and pops. Also in the fireface settings the error counter spirals upwards. I have tested the soundcard on my macbook and it works perfectly.

Anyone know what the issue could be?

Hi,
What firewire chip set do you have on the system?
Have you installed all the latest drivers for your motherboard, video etc/

Thanks Chris

Re: Fireface 400 not working after reinstall

I got a PCI card of Texas Instruments plugged in.

And yeah, all drivers are the most recent.

Re: Fireface 400 not working after reinstall

Hi,
Did you change the Firewire driver to Legacy after the RME driver was already installed?

What are your computer specs i,e, motherboard, ram, video card.

Thanks Chris

Re: Fireface 400 not working after reinstall

Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3-B3
CPU: i5 Sandy Bridge 2500K
RAM: 8GB DDR3
Video: nVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT

I changed to Legacy after the RME was installed, yeah

Been running a program to check for latency issues and it seems like there are some problems with the 1394 OpenHCI Driver, which I'm guessing is the firewire driver.

Re: Fireface 400 not working after reinstall

Hi,
Is this a PCI or PCI-e Firewire card?
PCI-e ones tend to work better on the Sandy Bridge chip set board.

Try a different firewire cable.

Try doing a clean re-install of the RME driver with the driver already set to legacy.
Uninstall the RME device using "Programs and Features" and reboot.
When the system reboots go into Device Manager and uninstall the RME drivers and check the "Delete the driver software for this device". Reboot then install the latest RME driver from like you are installing it for the first time.

Thanks Chris
