Topic: ADAT issue?

Hi,

I am a new RME Fireface UFX user and just getting used to everything so I hope this is not a really dumb question.

I am trying to connect a Sonos receiver (digital out) to the RME through the ADAT 1 input (toslink cable).  I have tried and tested 2 different cables and they both work.  I also tried to connect a Macbook and a blueray player (playing a music CD) into the ADAT 1 of the RME and they also didn't work.  Thus, no success with 3 different digital sources.  In each case, signal was coming through the cable as I could see the red light.

However, when as a test I connected the ADAT 1 in to the ADAT 1 out on the RME, the light went on in the front of the RME suggesting that there is a connection.

Same results as above with the ADAT 2 input.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Are they outputting spdif or adat format? From memory the macs are spdif format over optical. I believe there is a setting in the UFX (multiface user so not 100% sorry) to switch the adat to spdif format.

Correct. Only ADAT2 will work, and only after switching the AES input to that port, in the Settings dialog. Manual page 17.

Thank you both.  I will try that tonight and I'm sure it will work.  One more question -  I currently have an Avid Eleven Rack plugged into the AES input.  I assume this means I can't use both the AES and ADAT2 inputs simultaneously?
