Topic: AIO sounds different then Digi96/8

I moved to WIN 7 64bit and had to replace my Digi96/8 with HDSPe AIO.

Two questions please to RME and the users:

1. AIO sounds harsher at the HI's...to my ears. I'm so familiar with the sound of all my mixes so i can hear the difference very clearly.
so the question is WHY? Is there problem in my setup/driver? I downloaded the latest from RME website...and the flash is up-to-date too.

2. when i look at the processes in the win task manager i see -- *32 --- besides hdspmix.exe and hdsp32.exe.
what does it mean? isn't the new driver should be native 64bit?

Please help

Thank you very much!

Re: AIO sounds different then Digi96/8

1. If you can hear a difference, you might be able to measure it...
There is no sound difference by design, and the driver or firmware do not affect the sound quality.

2.  These two small control applications are just that... Small applications, for which 32 bit is fine. They are not "the driver".

Re: AIO sounds different then Digi96/8

Thanks a lot for the reply!

so these 2 cards use the same D/A converter?

i got it regarding *32 in the process task - thank you!

Re: AIO sounds different then Digi96/8

No, the converters are different. What I meant is the AIO is not supposed to sound brighter.

Re: AIO sounds different then Digi96/8

Thank you!
I just changed the comp to a completely new one including the new HDSPe AIO so everything sounds slightly different...
but the monitoring system (mixer, monitors, headphones) remained the same

thanks anyway!
