Topic: repeating notes

Fireface 400 latest driver and latest hardware revision running on Acer 5520 AMD Turion. 1.8 ghz. Software host is Forte. I'm getting repeating notes. I've tried several buffer settings 96 to 512. Same result. Power coming from external 7.5 volt DC at 2 A. Any thoughts?

Re: repeating notes

Can you be more specific about what's happening?

When you hear a note twice it's usually because you've set up a loop, or you're hearing both direct input and a signal delayed by the system latency.  Does the repeat delay change as you vary the buffer setting?

Anyway, tell us how everything's hooked up, and exactly what you're doing?

Re: repeating notes

Thanks for getting back to me, this is very frustrating. It's a simple setup. Midi keyboard connected to breakout Midi1 In  1394 6 t0 4 cable to Acer Aspire 5520-51565 running Windows 7 32 bit. AMD Turion TL-56 1.8 Ghz. 2 GB memory. 20 volt 3.5 amp external power supply. Native Instruments Kontakt 4 Soft Sampler. The repeats do seems to be affected by the buffer size, but I can see nowhere where a loop could be created. I don't even have midi out connected. It has to be something with the computer setup though I have gone to great lengths to optimize the setup, running latency mon and disabling offending drivers. In addition, the same setup works fine with my Mac Powerbook. Also, the Acer works fine with a USB interface from Native Instruments (other than unacceptable latency, but no repeating notes). Should I unistall the AudioKontrol(USB) drivers before using the Fireface?

Re: repeating notes

Okay, clearly a hardware issue, I used a expresscard Firewire adapter and problems went away. Thanks.
