Topic: Unbalanced Question related to XLR Pin 3

Hello,

this evening i will play a show where i have to deal with unbalanced mixer-inputs. The babyface manual makes it clear that "When connecting unbalanced equipment, make sure pin 3 of the XLR output is not connected".

It seems there is no prebuilt XLR to TR option (with Pin3 not connected) and i am not experienced with soldering.
My Question is:
Is it  sufficient on my female XLR to male TR cable (http://www.thomann.de/de/cae_17430_sw.htm) just to cut the Pin3 connection off?

thanks in advance

kind regards
felix

Re: Unbalanced Question related to XLR Pin 3

anyone?

it works the way it is, but i want to avoid higher distortion and power consumption.
I know the best solution is the unbalanced Breakoutcable, but today i will have to use the balanced one.

Hello Felix,

I'm using the babyface with a XLR to cinch cable (http://www.thomann.de/de/cordial_cfu_3_fc.htm) and I did exactly what you are planning to do, i.e. cut the pin 3 connection, and it works perfectly.
