Topic: PT 9 and 2 Fireface 800's

Trying to get 2 Fireface 800's to work together in PT 9.

What do I need to change in PT or the RME setup or Fireface mixer to make this work?

Thanks

The vitals:

Mac Pro 10.6.8
Both Firefaces running version 3.06 - Done
Firewire 800 to Mac Pro - Done
Firewire 800 and Word clock cable from master to slave - Done
75 ohm Termination engaged - Done

Re: PT 9 and 2 Fireface 800's

You need to create an Aggregate Device. Even then there might be some problems due to Aggregate Audio and Pro Tools limitations.

It will work better if you can use one FF800 in Stand Alone mode, see this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oibj81QIq4s

Re: PT 9 and 2 Fireface 800's

I think stand alone is the better option.

Latency is unworkable via wordclock.

How do I setup the matrix so I can use the 4 pre's on the front and 4 line ins from the rear of the stand alone unit?

Re: PT 9 and 2 Fireface 800's

FYI

I followed the instruction on that video but only lets me use pre's 7 & 8 and the line ins.

I need to route the 4 pre's on the front and line in on the back to Adat 1 of the connected Fireface.

Thanks

Re: PT 9 and 2 Fireface 800's

Just adjust the routings in the matrix so you have inputs AN 1-4 and AN 7-10 all routed to outputs ADAT 1-8. Word Clock has no bearing on latency BTW.

Re: PT 9 and 2 Fireface 800's

Got the matrix setup before I read your last post. Thanks.

It was super easy.

BTW, Standalone is pretty much the only way to get the 2nd FF working properly.

The latency was brutal when I tried the first method in the video.

Thanks for the help.
