Topic: FF800 using with MOTU 8pre via ADAT AND Mindprint SPDIF simultaniously

Are there any problems using my FF800 with a MOTU 8pre (via ADAT) and a Mindprint DI-Port (via SPDIF) at the same time?
Syncproblems...!? Any other problems?
If the FF800 is master, does the 8pre and DI-port sync automatically via the ADAT and SPDIF-connections?

btw: Has anybody compared the 8pre with the Focusrite Octopre MKII yet? Or is the compatibility and sound almost identical?

Hi,
As long as both the MOTU and the Mindprint can operate as slave then this will work fine.
You will need cables going in both directions for this to work.

The Mindprint should be run via SPDIF coaxial.
Make sure to have the SPDIF Input and Output set to Coaxial in the Fireface Mixer.

Fireface should be set to Master and the MOTU and Mindprint set to slave.

oh, that sounds good! Then I'll order the 8pre today ;- )
Why do I have to have to connect both ADAT directions when I only use the OUTs of the 8pre? Is this necessary for syncing?

Hi,
If you are only using the 8 pre as an output then you will only need the one ADAT cable going from the RME ADAT output to the 8 pre ADAT Input.

I ment, I use the 8 Mic preamps in the Pre8. That means, the one ADAT cable going from the 8 pre ADAT Output to the RME ADAT Input, isn't it?

In that case you need both directs in order for the 8pre to slave to the RME's clock.
