Topic: HELP ! - RME ADI-8 DS ADAT on DIGIDESIGN 192 interface

Hi, I'm new here as I've just bought my first RME product.

I just bought (second hand) a RME ADI-8 DS to work as a DA with my Digidesign 192 - I tried to make the unit work with ADAT but no luck. Could anyone suggest how I should set up the 192 and the RME via ADAT ?

I connected the ADAT out of channel 1-8 to the ADAT in of the RME and did the same for the ADAT in for the 192. What I get is the input meters of the 192 going up and down as if sound was going into the Digidesign 192  - this of course without playing pro tools software...

I have the feeling I was sold a faulty unit - but is there any way to check that everything is working ok ?

Thanks,
Dan

Re: HELP ! - RME ADI-8 DS ADAT on DIGIDESIGN 192 interface

Hi Dan,
Make sure that the 192 is set to internal for it's clock source.
On the ADI-DS set the clock to INPUT and the Digital Input to ADAT.
This will make the ADI8-DS slave to the Digidesign.

I don't know if the Digidesign 192 sends audio clock over it;s ADAT ports. It is a new enough device that it should.
If not then you can alwasy go word clock out of the Digi to the word clock in on the ADI8-DS.
Set the ADI8-DS to EXT Clock and now it will slave tot he WC from the Digidesign.

Thanks Chris

Thanks, got it to work. It sounds great.  If someone ends up here with the same question: Pro tools IO settings must be set to Digital - somewhat setting it to ADAT did not want to work...
