Topic: RME UFX... new Focusrite ADAT preamp not showing up in Totalmix?

Hi Guys,

I've purchased a Focusrite Octopre 2 Dynamic to add an additional 8 channels of in/out to my UFX using ADAT.

I have set it up as follows:

ADAT 1 in/out on the UFX to the ADAT in/out of the Focusrite unit

WORD CLOCK out from UFX to in of Focusrite (and Focusrite is set to word clock slave, at 44.1)

I was expecting that the 8 new inputs of the Focusrite would show up in Totalmix in the top row, alongside the other hardware inputs. However, it is not showing up at all!

Is there anything I need to do differently for this to work? Am I correct in assuming that the ADAT inputs should show up just like the 1-12 inputs of the UFX itself?

Any suggestions or advice on this would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers and thanks,
Mike

You don't see the ADAT inputs 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8 in the top row of TotalMix?

Hi Mike,

On the Fireface-
Make sure the Fireface Clock is set to Internal.
Make sure that ADAT2 output is set to ADAT.
Make sure that AES Input is set to AES.

On the Focusrite -
You do not need word clock as long as you have 2 ADAT cables for Input and Output.
The Clock Source should be ADAT and say Locked.
Make sure to engage the AD/DA button.
Also make sure that your Mic 48V and Instrument settings are correct.

Thanks Chris

Hi there,

That is correct, they do not appear at all in the top row - only the 12 built-in inputs of the UFX are appearing.

Cheers,
Mike

Hi Chris,

Many thanks, I will check this now.

Re the ADAT in/outs on the UFX, I am using the first set, is this correct? (I notice that your settings refer to the ADAT 2 output selection in the setup menu).

Cheers and thanks again,
Mike

Hi,
Yes ADAT port one is correct.
ADAT 2 can act as a Optical SDPIF.

You have hidden them in the layout settings (options menu)?

Hi Knut,

Sorry for the delayed reply. Many thanks, this solved the problem! I knew there would be something simple that I was overlooking!

Thanks for your help.

(And Chris, thanks also for you suggestions to make sure the configuration was correct!)

Cheers,
Mike
