Topic: UFX usb-backup pops (ticks clicks)

Hello,
I just did a recording with a band with my UFX. During a (very nice) take pro tools crashed, but I had the UFX recording to a 16GB memorystick as a backup. To my horror, the recordings on the usb-stick all have strange pops every couple of seconds! It sounds like it skips a bunch of samples every time. The same recordings in pro tools don't have any problem.

What could be the problem?

usb-stick: don't know the brand, but works fine, normally.

the problem is your USB device. Not all of them work reliably for audio recording, as a search on this forum will show. Unfortunately, "works fine, normally" is not enough to ensure continuous audio recording.

It is usually safest to use a disk drive. Some external card readers with SD cards have also shown to work well.

Did the UFX record panel show any errors?  I certainly hope that if the USB drive was not reliable and resulting in problems that the UFX would show some errors.
