Topic: 10.7.4 - FF800 Kernel Panics on Shut Down or Restart

Hi there,

I've started getting the same problems as Dan over here :http://www.rme-audio.de/forum/viewtopic.php?id=14701

All working fine when the machine's running but I get a KP when I shut down or restart. The screen goes grey as it usually would after OSX disappears ( I believe this is when all the network connections, background processes are being disconnected) then the KP appears.

Switching my FF800 off before restart is a workaround, and I've also found that quitting the FF800 settings and mixer seems to be a work around also.

After a successful restart with no KP, the computer can be started and shut down with the FF switched on as long as its not used. Play audio through it, then shut down and the KP happens.

Some of the KP's are here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/2502628/sfox_kernelpanics.zip

It may be unrelated, but it appears this has only been an issue since Apples latest updates, new Airport driver, and Java...

Thanks

Stuart

Re: 10.7.4 - FF800 Kernel Panics on Shut Down or Restart

Hi - this is driving me nuts... I also had an issue today while I was working in DP - suddenly all the 48v lights started flashing and the FF800 stopped working. DP reported that audio hardware had changed and the audio eng. had been stopped, the FF800 was no longer available.

How old is that unit? Flashing lights often indicate an internal power supply problem.

There have been weird issues with the unit since it was new, across several different setups, but no one from RME would believe it may be hardware related.

The unit is now about 4 years old.
