Topic: Avid Eleven Rack SPDIF to RME Babyface SPDIF

Hello!

I am taking delivery of an Eleven Rack guitar FX processor on Monday and want to connect it to the Babyface digitally. The only thing is I've been told that the Eleven Rack SPDIF is one of those phono ones and the Babyface is an optical SPDIF? How do I connect the SPDIFs up! HeadScratch

Many thanks in advance and for a great product

Re: Avid Eleven Rack SPDIF to RME Babyface SPDIF

Eleven Rack specs =

Digital input:
1 x XLR AES/EBU
1 x RCA coaxial S/PDIF

Digital output:
1 x XLR AES/EBU
1 x RCA coaxial S/PDIF

No optical spdif so you'll need a converter????

RME ADI-4DD

Re: Avid Eleven Rack SPDIF to RME Babyface SPDIF

I think you have several choices here:

1) Buy the ADI-4DD converter
2) Use the analog outs of the Eleven Rack to feed the analog ins of the babyface
3) Use the Eleven Rack as your interface while tracking guitars (or vocals when using the ER's built in mic preamp)
4) Use the Eleven Rack as your interface period
5) Buy a new or used Multiface II or maybe a Fireface UC or UCX that have spdif coax connections.

Are you going to be using ProTools 10 that comes with the purchase of the Eleven Rack?  If so, there are some other things to consider.

Cheers everyone - I'm going to go down the route of coax + optical SPDIF cables with a convertor in the middle
