Topic: Fireface Cubase midi monitoring

I've gone around in circles for a while now and just figured I'd ask before reinstalling everything.

I'm running Cubase SX on a Windows XP DAW with a Fireface 400, the only problem I'm experiencing is live monitoring of my vst instruments.

I'm able to record using a midi triger (korg trinity) and it plays back, but when I play the synth without recording there's no sound.

So basically, it's some kind of routing issue?  I'm pretty new at this so have mercy.

I can see the midi signal in cubase but for some reason the signal is not reaching the vst, or my vst output is messed up...

Any help would be wildly appreciated!

... but when I play the synth without recording there's no sound.

The small speaker icon next to the record button in the mixer or the arrange window is enabled? This will enable the Cubase software monitoring.

best regards

Re: Fireface Cubase midi monitoring

Yes, the monitor button is enabled.

This is strange, as I can see the channel received midi but the vst doesn't seem to. The vst has a midi light and even though the channel shows midi signal the vst does not.

Any other thoughts?

Re: Fireface Cubase midi monitoring

I got it, it was a MIDI Thru issue.

Thanks.
