Topic: Digicheck recording: ASIO errors depend on DC version

I just purchased a pre owned FF800 and use it with XP. I got ASIO errors when recording with DC 5.32 (what I received
from the previous owner). In order to cure this, I used the fut and updated the firmware, installed the
latest driver, and downloaded DC 5.43: same result. The errors are abundant: ca. 100 errors during 2.5 sec.
Mostly telling that ASIO buffer was 4x missed.

Amazingly, the music is not audibly ruined. Latency and sample rate have no obvious effect on the occurance
of errors. I tried another PC (notebook HP) - the same result.

Finally I checked with older DC versions, which the previous owner had stored.
5.23 runs without any recording errors!
4.53 seems not to show any, because the error detection feature seems not included.

Any advice what to do and/or check?
Thanks in advance, Tom

Re: Digicheck recording: ASIO errors depend on DC version

1. Sound is affected by these errors. No pops or clicks, but simply worse.

2. Confirmed behaviour with yet another PC (Dell). 5.23 showing no errors, 5.32 and 5.43 showing plenty.

3. Has data handling changed after DC 5.23? (May I suggest to add 5.23 to the download section?)

Re: Digicheck recording: ASIO errors depend on DC version

My solution is to discard DigiCheck for recording and playback.

It turns out that in my installation (XP) it is not the most robust but the most volatile tool for this.
Using e.g. Sonar, it is possible to play video clips from the same HDD without encountering errors,
while DC crashes often without any additional action....

The Sonar surface can be reduced so far that it's almost as slim as DC.
