I bought a new computer and thanks to Apple, no firewire 400 connections in the computers anymore. I bought a firewire 400/800 cable to connect my fire face 400 to the new computers firewire 800 port. I installed the drivers but the host light in fire face device remained red no matter what i tried.

After a while i connected using daisy chain the fireface with the 400 cable that came with the device when i bought it to my external Lacie hard drive´s 400 port. And from Lacie with 800 cable to the computer and suddenly it works!!

Is there a known problem with using these convert cables with sound cards? Maybe the cable is broken or do fire face 400 need a quality cable in order to work properly. This cable i bought was pretty cheap but these convert cables are pretty hard to find anyway nowadays. Or can someone recommend a quality cable that works with this device or should i just stick with the daisy chain system?
