Topic: HDSP9652 - Need analog output...

Hello, Is there anyway possible to get an analog output with an HDSP9652 card? I need to be able to feed my Mackie HR824 studio monitors so I'm wondering if there's an expension board or anything I can do here?

In the description it says... "The HDSP 9652 also supports Expansion Boards (EXB). Two internal ADAT inputs and two internal ADAT outputs allow you to realize up to 16 analog inputs, 16 analog outputs, or up to two TDIF ports directly inside the computer. "

This makes it sound possible, but I haven't found how...?


I need to be able to keep the 3 ADAT in/out going to my mixer, so the analog outs would need to be in ADDITION to the 3 ADAT's...please let me know if this is possible...thanks!

The AEBs use/replace ADAT ports. To add channels, you'd need a second card plus AEBs (which I believe are no longer available, though, with the exception of the TEB).

You could hook something up to the spdif out! That one is separate from the adats! You can go from cheap (maybe a spare dat machine) the esoteric. Or an ADI2.

That ADI2 looks nice, but way too expensive for me...it would be cheaper to buy a card with analog out...

I suppose I could use something less expensive, but, what specs should I be concerned with to preserve audio quality? Signal to noise ratio? Number of bits on the d/a converter? Etc.etc.

There are many cheap and esotericly expensive options. Just pick something in your budget. If you find something and are uncertain about it, then ask. The only speck to really worry about is that it needs to run on the same sample rates that you are using. There are some small companies that sell through ebay.

Sure you can't get your hands on an unused DAT or CDR recorder (or anything with spdif input)

What about something like this? The specs look good and I've heard good things about it on the net...it's actually a headphone amp, but it has analog outs...
