any possibility of releasing a smaller version of the UFX with only 2 mic preamps ? (like in the UC)

Have you looked at the UCX ?

but the ucx doesnt have the direct usb recording  feature which is what interests me the most

It does work with the iPad instead, while the UFX doesnt.

Thank you Michael, but I do already own a UC, and I dont have an iPad, so a smaller (and somewhat cheaper) version of the UFX with the direct usb recording  feature would be really ideal for me

For obvious reasons you will not get an answer to this or similar questions from RME (or any other manufacturer).
