Topic: can't record default computer output and mic

i'm looking for some ideas to try here. 2 situations where i thought i could record the output from my computer but can't.

1) the daw reaper allows you to record any stream from your machine. audio streamed online or anything else passing through your sound card. i can't get this to work. i'm always using rme's asio drivers but i think i tried a few others too...direct sound WDM kernel

2) my screen recorder software is supposed to be able to record a mic and the output of my soundcard at the same time. this makes demos of audio software a lot easier. again, never works, i can only get one or the other.

Have you tried loopback?

i'm thinking now its because the screen capture software expects to see some generic system microphone and is having trouble detecting any input from the fireface as a "microphone".

haven't tried loopback. that might work for issue #1. hmmm. thx.
