Topic: Windows 7 Home Premium startup freeze after Babyface installed

Hi,

After installing Babyface, my Windows 7 Home Premium freezes at startup.
The screen shows "Starting Windows", I can hear the fans spinning fiercely and there seems to be no hard disk activity.
Mouse and keyboard do respond.

If I disconnect the Babyface and force a restart, Windows will start (almsot) normally. It complains that it did not start normally and suggests I do a repair. I did that once but all the same.

I have followed the Babyface driver installation instructions carefully, picked the driver myself from the CD ./Babyface folder and the driver was successfully installed. I can hear the sounds perfectly through my headphones.

Both the computer and the Babyface are brand new, purchased yesterday 22.09.2012.

Overall computer specs:
- Model: HP h8-1355eo
- Processor: Intel Core i7 3770 @ 3.4 GHz Quad Core
- Memory: 8 GB
- System type: 64 bit
- Out of the box audio: IDT High Definition Audio

Babyface specs:
- Driver version 1.0.10.0 (date 10.10.2011)
- Driver location Port_#0003.Hub_#0001

Installing latest Windows 7 updates and disabling all drivers and services related to HP sound and IDT did not help either.

Did I miss anything? Advice is welcome and appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Petru

Re: Windows 7 Home Premium startup freeze after Babyface installed

Problem solved!

I was plugging all the time the Babyface into USB 3.0 slots (marked SS).

After moving to normal USB slots it works, Windows 7 starts normally.

Phew! smile

I have the same problem but I do not have any USB 2.0 slots on my new PC sad
Do I just need to keep my Babyface unplugged while Windows starts up?

IMHO this problem has been solved by a firmware update some time ago. If your firmware is as outdated as your driver is - update both.
