Topic: Idiot seeks help. Logic 9 I/O plugin / Fireface UFX/ hardware comp

Hi Guys, apologies for the inane question.

I'm really after a walkthrough on this as I'm a complete idiot.

I'm attempting  to use my UA 1176 (hardware) with Logic for the 1st time.

In logic's I/O plug I have the output set to 3 (analog 3) and input set to 7 (analog 7).

I have plugged O/P 3 of the UFX into into the input of the 1176 and the output of the 1176 into input 7 on the UFX.

I've set the compressor to ridiculous over compression (20:1) but can hear no compression at all.

Obviously I'm doing something stupid and wrong probably (probably to do with Totalmix) but I don't have a clue.

Please help!

Re: Idiot seeks help. Logic 9 I/O plugin / Fireface UFX/ hardware comp

Hi,
If you are using external I/O of external effects then you should NOT be routing any thing to or from the inputs and output being used for the external I/O. ONly Logic should be sending audio to and from those channels via the external I/O plugin.
Thanks Chris

Sorry, do you mean in Total Mix?

I'm not doing anything in Totalmix, only using the I/O plugin in Logic

Re: Idiot seeks help. Logic 9 I/O plugin / Fireface UFX/ hardware comp

do you have something solo'd in logic. If so, that might be the isssue.

I should have added.

You dont need total mix to do this.

Reset total mix.

Do the routing assignments in Logic, hit ping. You should be good to go.  You can use the meters in total mix to make sure you have signal going in and out of the UFX
