Topic: Firmware problem / Multiface 2
RME Multiface 2 / HDSP Cardbus Card - PCMCIA
Hi,
I keep getting this problem with my RME interface, problem that never occurred before with the previous drivers. I would extremely appreciate if you could provide me with any advice that might get the interface to working properly.
So, I have installed the latest version of the driver from rme-audio ( v 3.2.9 ) but when I try to update the firmware as well, it just fails. I am using a notebook with Windows 7 Ultimate x86 installed. It is an Intel Core 2 Duo / 4GB Ram / seagate 7200 rpm.
And now I keep getting pops and cracks, in a random sort of way, every time I do anything on the computer, even with almost every letter that I type now. I get exactly the same cracks that you get when having a smaller buffer size selected. And it makes no difference if I am working in a DAW (Ableton 8 v3.0.4) or I just listen to a track. It feels like the processor can`t handle any other activity when using the interface.
It has never happened before although I am using this interface since 2009.
The RME HDSP CardBus Card ( PCMCIA 32bit ) is connected to my notebook via an adapter card -> Express card to PCMCIA, an adapter exactly of this sort
I have always had the interface working like that and I never had any problems.
I am almost certain that this problem is due to a conflict between the latest driver 3.2.9 and the old firmware. Ar there any other ways of installing the latest firmware? It just fails to update from the pcie_fut.exe (fut_wdm_dspe). Should I try to update the firmware using another computer with the RME HDSP cardbus directly connected to the slot, without any sort of adapters ?!
Thank you.
Best regards,
Alex M
