Topic: FF400 firewire stopped working on Mac Pro

FF400 stopped working on Mac Pro. Happend a few times earlier but now the following steps doesn't make any sence:

- SMC reset (unplugged all cables);
- Reset NVRAM (Command (?), Option, P, and R while booting);
- FF400 powered and buspowered (both doesn't work);

FF400 is working on my Macbook Pro with same FW cable.

Any tips?

What exactly does not work? Does the HOST LED remain lit?

Re: FF400 firewire stopped working on Mac Pro

Daniel,

The Mac Pro does not see the FF400. System Profiler/FireWire displays "Max. Speed: Up to 800 Mb/sec".

The red light (HOST) on FF400 remains on (powered and bus-powered).

Have you got another FW device to test with the Mac's FW port?

Unfortunately not.
Are there other ways to test the Mac firewire port?

You can connect the two Macs by FW (see manual).

Re: FF400 firewire stopped working on Mac Pro

My first attempt to connect the Mac Book via firewire in 'Target Disk Mode' didn't work.

After a reboot while pressing - command option o f,
the macbook was connected. Then i tried the FF400 and guess what, it is recognized smile
