I've read several topics or threads that are all related to this. The basic concept is that RME's 9632 isn't capable of routing surround sound with Windows 7 unless the AIO (or whatever the actual model number is) accessory is purchased.

It was a bit of a disappointment to purchase a complete surround upgrade for the studio and not be able to pop in a DVD. Once the situation was better understood, I considered the accessory purchase but I've decided that it wouldn't be the smart money for me. Might be time to retire the 9632. For what it's worth, It's been a great card!

Other Users: Are there any hacks for this problem? Solutions to at least provide DVD surround output to ADAT?

RME: It was mentioned by forum mod MC that a solution might be considered in a driver revision. (although it was stated to be a very low priority... and who can blame you guys, the card is almost 10 years old....)  Is there any status update from RME?  Perhaps the 9632 is slated for legacy and will loose it's support sometime soon? Any info on the topic would be appreciated.
