Topic: Third party firewire drivers and the Fireface 800.

Hello all at RME.

I was wondering if anybody had any experience with attempting to use third party firewire drivers for Win XP Pro (SP3) with their Fireface 800.

So far i have tried the AVT 1394 bus driver - http://www.alliedvisiontec.com/us/produ … ckage.html the Unibrain ubCore  - http://www.unibrain.com/products/driverapi/ubcore.htm and another whose name i have forgotten.

I've tried various ways of installation and the Fireface simply does not work with any of them. Is there a reason for this ? Im assuming that the Fireface's drivers are written only to work with the Winxp default driver, if thats even possible ?

Any help you can provide will be most appreciated, thank you !

The FF will not work with third-party drivers. Please use Windows drivers only.

Ok, i found one answer posted by the admin 'MC' on another thread -
"Make sure you did not install any FireWire driver coming with that card, like Unibrain, they are not compatible to the FF."

So that answers that, i think its safe to assume the Fireface 800 will not work any third party firewire drivers under WinXP.

If anyone has anything more to add, please do.
