Topic: MADI FX, Sonnet Echo Express, Macbook pro OSX 10.8 compatibility

Do you know if the latest Macbook Pro 15" (not retina) with the OSX 10.8 working fine with the MADI FX card and the Echo Express thunderbolt exp.?

I have to record a concert, 110 tracks (2 madi) in a place where my big workstations can be moved to, so I 'm thinking to buy the new MADI FX card, the sonnet exp., a Macbook Pro (not retina) and a SSD external thunderbolt disk and put everything into to a backpack.
The Macbook Pro comes with 10.8 OSX version only. I use NUENDO 5.5

Thank you for your help

Alberto

Hello
I have a sistem with macbook pro 2012 13inch, 256G ssd, 8G RAM, sonnet echo express, RME madifx, SSL Alphalink maid-ax.So far i recorded a couple of shows(48tr 24/48)with no problems.
I use Reaper and work great, but pro tools 10 crash every time when start. Its Avid issue i think.
BTW its amazing sistem for live shows recording.

Hello

I have a system 17 inch 2.4GHz MacBook Pro Late 2011?MD311?on Mac OS 10.8.2 and Sonet Echo Express and HDSPe MADI FX.
It is very good working on Mac OS and Bootcamp Win7.
But Pro Tools is not good working on Mac OS. When start up Pro Tools, Suddenly crash it.

Thank you for your feedback.
I know about the Protools crash, it's because the MADI FX has a lot of channels and this makes PT to crash.
It could be nice from RME to give us the option to reduce from 3 to 1 MADI (64 ch) view from the core audio.

Thank you again and Best Regards

I agree. I just bought this card for a school I contract with. I had hopes to interface it directly with our Euphonix S5. I only need the coax port (madi 3) and it's not playing well with PT10 at all.

I had a similar issue in another room with two Lynx Aroura 16 which allows 32 I/O per device (16 analog + 16 AES). Lynx provided firmware to let you dummy down the devices to be seen as two 16 channel (analog) interfaces. I would love the option to kill off the two optical I/Os. Looks like I'm going to eat it on this one! I'm glad we haven't sold off the old digi hardware yet!
