Topic: AES / EBU sync needed ?

Hi,

I'm trying to use the AES/EBU connection from my RayDat as an "Spdif" connection with a proper adapter cable (voltage down to 0.5v and impedance from 110 to 75).

I'm only using the output but only get weird random stuff out there. It works properly when I switch TEB/AEB in the HDSP setting to ADAT3 in or ADAT4 in but will then lose one of my ADAT connections.

I don't have another converter cable here to test and would only buy if someone can confirm if sync causes trouble here.

Thanks a lot.

Not necessary. The only thing you might need to do is set the AES output to Consumer state, which is not possible.

That makes not much sense. You are using which driver, firmware and OS? You connect to what device? The RayDAT is set to internal clock? What sample rate? And does it work if you use the coaxial SPDIF output instead?

Re: AES / EBU sync needed ?

Hi Matthias,

thank you for your quick reply.

The RayDat is on the latest FW and driver version (3.04). Already loaded these to check if that helps. The device I'm connecting is an Expert Sleepers ES-4 SPDIF to control voltage converter. It works flawlessly on the coax SPDIF connection from the RayDat.
I have two of those now and also tried the connection on both.
The OS is OSX 10.8, sample rate is 48Khz and the RayDat is clocking as master. Really weird things going on. If needed I can make a small movie of the ES-4's behavior. switching TEB to ADAT3 or ADAT4 still helps but don't know why ...

Thanks for your time.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Re: AES / EBU sync needed ?

I have verified that the AES output is not affected from any setting in the Settings dialog, especially not AEB ADAT 3/4. Neither its channel status nor the physical voltage changes.
