Topic: UCX wordclock cable problem

Just a pair of months ago I bought a fireface ucx.Great piece of hardware and software.
I use that as a digital bridge to mytek 8x192 from a new mac mini.
The routing is as follow:

mac-rme adat out-mytek-outboards-mytek-rme adat in.
The adat-in of the UCX is then routed to the spidf out to my
crookwood da(of the mastering console) for monitoring(through the total-mix function).

if I set the adat-in as master clock although
the sync tells 48k when the clock is 96k all seems to work fine.

If I put a wordclock cable from mytek to UCX the result is the same as above
clock at 96k and adat sync at 48 but now no audio comes from spdif.

question:is this because I have the spdif-out of the UCX set as professional(spdif-out to aes of crookwood) and the bnc(wordclock cable) is not or for other reasons?

question:Is the adat clock reliable?

Thanks in advance
alessandro

Re: UCX wordclock cable problem

A quick read of the manual let me thing that the possible solution
would be to flag the option wordclock in Termination.

Can someone confirm?
However this afternon if have time to go to the studio
i'll try.

Re: UCX wordclock cable problem

Just tried with wordclock cable connected and termination, but same result.
In the total mix window audio is present at spdif out(set as professional spdif to aes) but the crookwood da(aes input of the consolle)
doesn't play anything. The crookwood is asynchronous could be this the reason?

Revert to adat-in as the clock, audio at spdif-out is still there and can be listened.

Really don't know........

Re: UCX wordclock cable problem

No one?Any suggestion? If someone had similar experiences,on how is better to clock or
if that worth to clock using a dedicated wordclock cable, would be really great and usefull
to share those with me.

Re: UCX wordclock cable problem

Must admit I have difficulty understanding the setup.. ;-)
Why don't you take it apart for testing, beginning with the SDPIF?
Please provide more details on the DA converter also.

Re: UCX wordclock cable problem

Set up is easy explained:
I use the ucx and totalmix to drive the signal where I want.
1st to the mytek 8x192 just one adat channel that go to outboards eq-comp-limiter
back to adat input that now is monitored/routed by the Crookwood DA(spdif professional)
to speaker.
